The art of metal-casting was known in the Brunei Sultan
te as long as the 16th century.
Early trade with China, India and the Middle East may have ushered in the craft along with the forms and decorative motifs.
Feature: A miniature cannon with touch-hole, sight and rare dolphin handles, I tip this to be once an important currency AND a symbol of peace during the barter trading period, simply due to the fact that the cannons bore is solid all the way reaching the touch-hole.
One is unable to fire with this cannon, a very rare and notable cannon.
In the Malay Archipelago, especially in the Borneo and Indonesian island, the miniature cannons served as preferred monetary tender, desirable marriage dowry and were treasured as an heirloom and a status symbol.
